Connemara Road Trip
Last week was my birthday, so we took a little road trip around Connemara, County Galway. With its white sand beaches, turquoise ocean, the only Irish fjord, Connemara ponies, and an abundance of bogs and lakes, Connemara is one of the most awe-inspiring parts of Ireland. We stayed at the Errisbeg House in the village of Roundstone where an actual duke was our host.
When we first arrived to Roundstone, I admired a house with a thatched roof only to find out Sting lived in that very house in the early eighties. That's where he wrote most of The Police's third album. The man obviously has a great taste when it comes to choosing a location that sparks creativity. After spending a few days in Roundstone, I've come to the conclusion I could easily spend a month there just embracing slow living. Roundstone is also home to the annual regatta. Oh, and our duke is also the village mayor. The arts and crafts scene is well developed, so I would fit right in. We had ample time to leisurely explore the whole region, which means I have tons of photos to share. Although the typical Irish weather made some shots less than perfect, I believe you'll want to book your trip to Connemara immeditely!
P.S. Since I didn't want to squeeze all the photos into one post, I'll write a separate one dedicated just to Kylemore Abbey.
